There were the two groups by this name, one American the other Australian, and both put together by Ford. U.S. group: Pre-fab group of top pop session players brought together in various combinations to promote Ford Motor's youth orientated ad campaigns circa 1968-1970. The Going Thing released three Ford-centric albums featuring tracks with titles such as "The Warranty Song" as well as kitschy versions of popular hits of the day. Members included session stalwarts John and Tom Bahler (of The Love Generation), Janis Hansen (Sérgio Mendes) and Larry Carlton.
