The Glass Orchestra, founded in 1977, is unique in the world: it is the only ensemble of musicians performing and creating contemporary compositions entirely with glass musical instruments of their own design. Drawing on a wide range of musical influences and performance techniques, the orchestra explores the unique sonic properties of glass, creating an ethereal, percussive soundscape of associated imagery by playing a large assortment of glass bowls, goblets, tubes, xylophones, bells, chimes and one of a kind instruments.
