The Galileo Affair is a three-piece Experimental Hardcore rock group from the small town of Wareham, MA. Consisting of Vocalist/Guitarist Matt Magnell, Bassist Mac Jackson, and Percussionist Billy Giasson. The group formed many years ago with Guitarist Matt Magnell and Drummer Billy Giasson in middle school days. After going through a multitude of different musicians, calling it quits from being in a band together, playing a diverse amount of genres, the two, with Guitarist of Officer Uranium and The Black Dog Man, Alec Doyle, paved the experimental hardcore sound that would be The Galileo Affair. After removing Doyle from the band, the two looked for a the bassist that was right under their nose, close friend Goldburn "Mac" Jackson. The three would play this experimental genre under the name "1227" with Singer Brie Hirle and Synth player Lucas Murphy until March 2010, when personal problems arose between Hirle and the band. Around April 2010, the group decided that they needed to change their name to something that fit their style, 1227 had a meaning, but it wasn't a fitting title for their music. The group decided to change their name to "The Galileo Affair" because their style of music isn't quite accepted by everyone, just as Galileo's views of space were not. Around the same time as the name change, Murphy decided to part ways with group, starting an Acoustic solo act. The group decided to keep playing as only a three piece (which was the original plan anyways).
