Say hello to the Fusion!!! The Fusion is the new name for The Neons, who have been around in one form or another since 2007, where they first appeared with long-departed band members as Neon Garden. The idea of the Fusion is to make a fresh start with a radically new sound. The Neons were getting stronger and stronger through 2009 with some big support slots (complete Stone Roses, Sergeant, the Vortex) and coming 3rd in the Carling Battle of the bands 2009 until drummer Richie Meldrum was struck down with serious illness for 8 months in April 2010. Things were already changing within the band at that point - a scrapped EP led to the departure of their lead guitarist, and it also led to the introduction of Kerry Ann Hollywood as a backing vocalist. The band's producer made a throwaway comment during those scrapped EP sessions back in March 2010. "you should get a keyboard/synth player. That would set you guys apart". This piece of advice was the inspiration for singer and guitarist Frazer Brown to find someone to perform such duties, and in November 2010 he brought Dougie Gallacher into the band. Frazer and Dougie made Electro/dance music under the name Something Of A Paradox from 2000 to 2006, with no real burning ambition other than to make the best music they could for their own pleasure, although they did organise a one off gig in 2004.
