Masheek Hype 5 and Kawlinz founded the Nut Kick Clan in high school during the tenth grade, basically just as a laugh. The NKC was never meant to be a group name; it was meant as a joke about artificial cliques that have no purpose. The crew had quite a few members, but really, there was no point of being in or out of the crew, other than the fact that it was funny to say that you were a part of the Nut Kick Clan. This changed when The Founders of the group started getting serious about rhyming. When deciding on a name, Masheek and Kawlinz decided that calling themselves the NKC was a bit misleading, as there are many members of the NKC, some of whom don’t even rhyme. As a result, they decided that the best route would be to introduce themselves as “The Founders of the NKC”, while having guest appearances from the rest of the crew as needed. One day, The Founders hope to make an NKC album, a collaboration with the whole crew. Currently, Kawlinz and Hype are recording their forthcoming album, The Demo Tape.
