Artist
The Folding and the point creates a music from concrete sounds, wind instruments and processed organs, which lean on floating textures and profound basses. A calm and horizontal world of permeable landscapes. The Folding and the point is the project of the Envelope Collective founder, Olivier Arson (Paris, 1979). In 2001, he gives his firsts concerts in Iceland where he lived for 4 years, sharing line-ups with múm, Ampop and Skurken among others. Now based in Madrid, he’s starting a series of collaborations and live improvisations (McEnroe, Shinsaku Kanai, Deefried). His first LP “Sorger était allé dehors, comme après un triomphe.” (“Sorger had gone outside, like after a triumph.”) is inspired by Peter Handke's book ‘The Slow Return Home’, in which the topologist Valentin Sorger is searching a different scheme to figure out the run of time within the shapes of the landscape. Stage performances build through the live sound of the samplers and the keyboards, followed by improvisations on guitar or bass. Pedals and effects complete the landscape of textures, creating a space where to discover new sounds and get carried away by the imagination. He’s usually accompanied by a guest collaborator.
