The First Times are a new Seattle based power pop band. The charming Shane Herrell (lead vocals, guitar) fronts the band, with support from Travis Morrison (guitar), Brian Papenfuss (drums, percussion), and Wayne Draves (bass). The First Times are a compilation of many local Seattle bands such as, The Knast, The Spits, Spook The Horse, Virgin, and Hallways. The band was started as a means to satisfy a sweet tooth not being met by any of their other projects. After meeting up late after work, messing around and writing catchy songs, they realized they might have something great. After only playing a handful of shows they began to feel like their audiences agreed. The sound is a newer breed of power pop, clearly influenced by 60s British bands like Small Faces, The High Numbers, The Smoke, The Kinks, The Yardbirds, The Troggs, as well as 70s breakout artists such as The Ramones and Tom Petty. Unpretentious and unapologetic about their influences, these four guys play energy fueled tunes with style.
