The Ethnobabes started as a five piece pop band in the mid nineties. Although most of the band members have rural roots, the band has always operated from their base in Oslo. After spending years trying out a variety of styles they finally ended up playing sixties inspired pop music based around their female singer and the brilliance of their lead guitarist. Their lyrics mainly deal with daily trivialities, favourite hobbies and food. Their first release came in 2000 when they released their highly regarded 10" "You can't make me". Today the Babes have, more or less, moved away from the band idea, and consider themselves more of a collective than a traditional band.
