The End of the Universe was formed in late summer of 1982 by guitarist Brett Mathews (Jesuit, Hatebreed, Goddess), bassist Ian Sabo (Goddess, Channel) and drummer John DiGiorgio (Converge, Iron Maiden, Canephora). Following some early jam sessions, Brett recruited Josh Nelson (Tu Madre, This Was Your Life) on vocals, and the foursome immediately hit it off. Combining elements of their former projects with a touch of Deadguy, Harkonen, Entombed, Coalesce and even some stoner favorites thrown in, TEotU has a clearly defined, original sound. After a handful of local gigs and brief touring stints with the Dillinger Escape Plan and Every Time I Die, TEotU played several one-off shows in the Northeast US with many of the biggest names in the underground scene. On the heels of rave reviews of their first demo recording by Metal Maniacs magazine and several online ‘zines, the band made a stop at the inaugural Riotfest in Antwerp, Belgium with Zao, Give up the Ghost and a handful of premiere US hardcore and metal bands. Following the trip, the band added a second guitarist, Virginia Beach local Kenneth Daugherty (Price of Aversion) and played a number of shows on the east coast, including world-famous CBGB's, the Macrock festival and plenty more. Currently, the band has released their debut album "You're The Disease" on Chainsaw Safety records. The album has received several rave reviews, including picking up "Album of the Week" honors at lambgoat.com, and being called "The Metal Albu
