Artist
At least two artists call themselves The Empty Set. One is from Portland, Oregon; one is from England. The Empty Set from England is a folk-pop, indie-pop band: Tommy Ogden of Manchester and Dan Simons of London. They sing about love and science, and play along with melodies on permutations of ukulele, violin, piano, guitar, harmonium, viola, synthesiser and glockenspiel. Sometimes they play songs by the likes of George Brassens, Cole Porter, Bob Dylan and the Jesus & Mary Chain. They have supported Devon Sproule, The Wave Pictures, Bearsuit, Luke Haines, Honeytrap, The Chap, Chris Garneau, Capitol K and Josephine Foster. Their first LP As Neat As A New Pin was engineered and produced by Jake of Popular Workshop. It is due for a spring 2009 release on Tough Love Records. Their song Your hay fever is available on the Brainlove Records compilation, Two Thousand And Ace.
