There are at least two bands with the same name: (1) The Elks were a short-lived Virginia Beach punk band that played in various forms over several years starting in 2000. After an initial shuffling of members, the group quickly left behind a grittier punk sound to incorporate more elements of metal and hardcore. Although the group was geographically scattered within a few years, various members often wrote new material and even performed a few shows when all together. The band's final appearance together was an homage to the Misfits playing a complete set of covers and featuring various Virginia Beach friends (as vocalists) who had supported the group over their time. (2) Project from Hanging Coffins member Cade. The Elks assault you with seriously intense no wave punk blasts only to creep you out in the next minute with strange, plodding, instrumentals.
