The Dynamite Vikings was established in Copenhagen in 1998 by Estonian guitarist Jaak Sooäär, Swedish bass player Thommy Andersson and Danish drummer Karsten Mathiesen to explore new territories of classical power trio of guitar, bass and drums. Since then the music of the trio has developed to unique original music style which could be described as "progressive postmodern jazzrock". Although starting out from jazzy background, the reviewers have mentioned Zappa and earlier King Crimson as stylemarks of The Dynamite Vikings. Recently the trio has experimented with unorthodox grooves using the new possibilities of live-electronics.
