The Distress SIgnal is a quartet from Gilbert, AZ formed in late 2007. They have fused many different genres into their one of a kind, unique sound. Lead vocalist, Lance William, has been heard on several occasions describing TDS as "Southwest Punk Rock". The Distress Signal is Lance William (Lead Vocals, Rythym Guitar) Layko Lee (Backing Vocals, Lead Guitar) Mike Murzanski (Backing Vocals, Bass) Cody Shea (Drums). The band started with Lance introducing Layko & Cody on the first day of practice where they wrote their first song "And Nothing Less..." a closer to punk rock medly that had strong political views and was well recieved by fans and promoters alike. They have since incorporated a more post-punk, post hardcore sound along the lines of Armor For Sleep and Paramore. A few months passed and thru convincing Mike to play bass The Distress Signal was born. They released their 1st album, "Whispers From A Dark Corridor" in April 2008 and recorded at Avalon Audio in Chandler Arizona. Striving to make themselves known they burned 1000 copies of their cd and passed it out at shows and college campus'. From then on came shows and alot of them playing with any band that would let them alot of the time they would play the metal scene in hoping to bridge genres. TDS has played various shows around Arizona and is looking forward to kicking off their tour for their second full length "We'll Sink This Ship" summer of '09.
