about

Like many great singers do, Debra Ainsworth started singing at the tender age of 4 to an audience of family, friends & anyone else who was near her. “Sylvia Tyson, Patsy Cline & Connie Frances were always on the radio or the record player…” she says, “… so I really started with the old country.” "Times were tough back then, too..." she goes on to say, “… so we could never afford a guitar until my Dad bought me one when I was 7, so all I ever did was sing, and I know that has helped me to this day.” Buy the age 11 she had written her first song, and by age 13 she was performing at fairs & festivals and whatever bars would let her in. Since that time, she has released 2 singles, played the CCMA’s, did a TV live tribute to Hall of Fame Inductee Sylvia Tyson, and has opened for a number of top Canadian Country Artists like George Canyon & Julian Austin. Deb, along with her band Free Sugar put a great show that really bridges the gap between country & rock. "The distance between county and rock really isn't that far..." she's says. "My whole band & I love both genre’s of music... we really strive to write songs that are meaningful and touch something inside you that's important, but we all like the more fun things in life too, and it hopefully a bit of our tendency to have some fun comes out in our songs.” “I think people like the diversity."
