There are two bands known as The Day We Left Earth. 1. The Day We Left Earth is a metalcore band from Norway and Sweden, formed in early 2022. The band consists of Norwegian clean vocalist Martin Bjerke (7 Days In Alaska), Swedish harsh vocalist Mikael Sehlin (Engel and Degradead), Swedish guitarist Mia Moilanen (Art Nation), drummer Tobias Solbakk (live drummer for Ihsahn), and Marius Kikut on synth and orchestral parts. "While many will probably think about space and Sci-Fi when they see our name, It's not really about that at all. Its about freedom. Its about that moment when you decide to change something about your life for the better. When you take that step into the unknown. When you are scared and tired, but keep walking forward anyway. We will make music for those moments and for those people." Their debut single, "EDEN," was released on April 15, 2022, followed by "THNDR" on May 27, 2022, and "Smoke + Mirrors" on July 8, 2022. Their debut EP, "Melancholia," featuring the new song "Melancholia" along with the three previous singles, was released on December 16, 2022. "The song "Melancholia goes deep into depression and nihillistic philosophy. It's a tragic song, our greek theatre you might say. It's so sad to think that many may relate to this song on some level. Which is why we felt it was necessary to write it. But there's comfort in music, and there's strength in unity."
