The D.B. Buxton Revue started in 2007 by Edmonton's hardest working street performer, Daniel Benjamin Buxton, who after 12 years of playing professionally for crowds on the street decided it was high time to pull himself up by his bootstraps and form a band to help him present the full range of his writing and showmanship. His former lover and close friend Samantha Koladich was first to join; her background in Jazz and early Classical music providing an ideal counterpoint to Buxton's interest in early blues and hard soul. There were initial difficulties with the rhythm section but thanks to the earnest bass playing of Grant Dryden, and the intelligent and energetic percussion of Jenni Roberts, the band has become a force to be reckoned with. After a series of successful shows at Savoy Lounge, the band went in to the studio with engineer Clayton Marsden to record their first (and hopefully, breakthrough) EP, which is due for release in July of 2008.
