The Crash Engine began in Eugene, Oregon, a college town vortex of hippies and rainy winters. Somehow, out of the fog and the evergreens emerged a rock band with substance. The Crash Engine became well known locally for dynamic and energetic live performances at many regional venues and quickly developed a reputation as one of the best, most exciting live bands in the area. They garnered the attention of various local publications such as the Oregon Voice, The Oregon Daily Emerald, and the Eugene Weekly, as well as receiving steady radio play on 97.9 KNRQ, 88.1 KWVA, 96.9KROG and 101.5 KUFO. In 2005, the Crash Engine had the opportunity to work directly with A&R Rep. Loren Israel (Jimmy Eat World, Plain White Tees) through his Music Mentor Program, culminating in a showcase in Los Angeles in April of ’05. After independently releasing and selling two EPs and completing two self-booked US tours, the trio set their sights on moving to Portland, Oregon, a musically magnetic city with a rising indie scene, to record their first full length album “Extravagaria.” Extravagaria will be officially released in late 2007. The Crash Engine has had their music featured in the Independent film “Last Man Running” and one of their most crowd pleasing songs “The Sky Retreats” appeared this year on Deep Elm Records’ critically acclaimed Emo Diaries compilation.
