The Conformists are an "experimental punk band" (according to their handwritten press kit) from across the river. They reside in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Stylistically, their music is heavily deconstructionist, in the same vein as U.S. Maple, Yowie (who currently shares their drummer), or even Australia's "My Disco." They typically employ long passages of repetition peppered with nuances, sometimes purposely making use of rhythms that make it sound as if they are skipping beats. The vocal style varies greatly, sometimes yelling, speaking regularly, singing monotone, or even whispering. The Conformists have been known to play parts of their live set with their instruments turned all, or most of the way, down with the vocalist's microphone completely unplugged. They have three full length albums, which are "Two Hundred," "Three Hundred," and "None Hundred," in chronological order. In addition, they have a handmade 12" record called "daterape" that is mostly noise, and a tape... and maybe a split 7" or two.
