Driven by a love for the raw guitar melodies of instrumental surf hits of the 60's, The Concrete Rivals combine the reverb-drenched sounds of The Ventures and Dick Dale with the straight-ahead rock and speed of The Who and early Metallica. The Concrete Rivals are based in Montpelier, Vermont, and began as a one-off side project for guitarist Jay Ekis, performing instrumental surf-rock covers. The band spent three years performing around Vermont, honing their chops, and began writing original music fused with their individual tastes and interests. They are currently working on their full-length debut album to be released in October 2011, followed by an east coast tour.
