http://www.myspace.com/thecoherent ------Review by Jeff Nations BANNEDPROMOTIONS.com---- Anti-Box is eight tracks long but is more like one long opus (there are only maybe two actual breaks between songs on the entire album) than they are individual songs yet each retains its own uniqueness. I should also mention that none of the songs are under four minutes in length. The Coherent allows the songs to make their natural progression and come to full fruition rather than writing for radio and trying to squeeze the songs into the three minute range (which can be good or bad depending on what is trying to be accomplished). As a whole, the band has a very classic rock sound. Lead singer Jeffro's actual voice reminds me heavily of Vertical Horizon's Matt Scannell and Craig Fuller of Little Feat. His vocal style (that is, the way and manner in which he sings) shows heavy influence from Maynard James Keenan. Musically, the listener can hear influence from Tool, Rush, A Perfect Circle, Pink Floyd and maybe a little Dream Theater here and there as well. "You Hide" and "Alone & Misinformed" are two of the standout tracks and my personal favorites. Both songs show off the band's full potential musically and lyrically. "Pulled Both Ways", a quick paced, heavier instrumental that contains vocal samples offering motivation for living life to the fullest, ends the album on a high-energy note.
