The Clungels were a beat band of the 1960s from Amsterdam, The Netherland, remarkably singing in Dutch, their mothertongue. While Dutch-sung 'Nederbeat' was not entirely unheard of, it was the exception rather than the rule. The Clungles were arguably one of the more enjoyable and funny of those exceptions. Capable musicians, they first served as a backing band for several solo singers, including Davy Jones (not the man known as David Bowie, nor the guy from The Monkees, but yet another Davy Jones), Karin Kent and Otis Lee. Like HET, there was a strong element of pop art humour to their work. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
