about

Andreas Gidlund, born on October 31, 1976, in Umeå, is a Swedish jazz musician and composer. He also performs as The City of Birches, Eddie Harper, Gidde and Geeder. Andreas began his musical journey as a child, exploring various instruments. His love for the melancholic and sentimental expressions in music, especially jazz ballads, was possibly influenced by the cold and long winters of the north. Gidlund studied at Fridhems folkhögskola (1997-1999) and the University of Music and Drama in Gothenburg (1999-2002). He lived and worked in Gothenburg until 2008 when he moved to Stockholm. Andreas Gidlund, who plays the saxophone, made his debut in 2003 with the album "Mandraki Beach" with the Andreas Gidlund Quartet. The quartet's high-energy performances and contemporary swing style served as an inspiration to many aspiring jazz students. Throughout his nearly two-decade-long career, Andreas has been actively involved in the music scene, performing, and writing for both artists and his own projects. He is a versatile musician, sought after as a freelance artist in various genres. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, he frequently records and composes music in his studio located in Södermalm.
