The Choir of King's College owes its existence to King Henry VI, who envisaged the daily singing of services in his magnificent chapel in Cambridge, UK. This remains the Choir's raison d'être, and is an important part of the lives of its 16 choristers, who are educated on scholarships at King's College School, and the 14 choral scholars and two organ scholars, who study a variety of subjects in the College. Today the choir is directed by Stephen Cleobury and derives much of its fame from the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, broadcast worldwide to millions on Christmas Eve every year, and the TV service Carols from King's which accompanies it. The official website for choir is http://www.kings.cam.ac.uk/choir/ User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
