Originally formed as Joe and the Chicken Heads in 1993, the band released 2 homemade cassettes in 1994 before simplifying the name to The Chicken Heads released two more homemade cassette albums, Divine Indigestion in 1995, and Bird Brains in 1996. After recording in a studio for the first time for Vegas Records, the label brought back the name, Joe and the Chicken Heads, which was used until 2004, when they become The Radioactive Chicken Heads.
