The Case were a garage band from Pennsylvania who privately released Blackwood in 1971. The album was recorded on a 4-track in the group's music classroom at their school over Christmas break. 2. The Case are a five-piece funk/rock group from Kent, UK formed in 2004 by school friends, classically trained pianist Nick Hobbs and guitarist/songwriter Will Page from the ashes of their hardcore punk band Powerpiss. The group expanded to include guitarist James Shuster and drummer Rob Prastka with Page handling guitar/bass and Hobbs on Keyboard and Lead Vocals. Staying loyal to their punk roots, the band began recording mainly light-hearted catchy songs such as "Alice Thinks You're A Jerk", "Battleships" (featuring on debut E.P. "The Brief Case") and "Kill" before writing streetwise ballads Fingerless Gloves and Empty Bottles and "Hold On", both of which were minor hits on the local scene. The band released debut L.P. "The Pencil Case" in 2005, swiftly followed by "The Nutcase" which honed a more mature sound. A new direction came in the summer of 2005, following the departure of Shuster and the subsequent aquisition of bassist James "Fitzy" FitzGerald.
