The Breathing Method came into being in late 2000, when guitarists Tyler Grove and Xander Hendrickson starting messing around with songs that they had written on two acoustic guitars. They played their first "show" that winter in the form of a coffeehouse. In May of 2001, the duo laid down their first tracks in Lancaster, PA at Steve Ward Studios. With Steve's help the guys recorded a three song EP in one four hour session, returning to Delaware by nightfall. The Goodbye EP featured "Goodbye," "What the World's Done," and "If I Had You." The fall of 2001 saw the first full band performance, as the band debuted "Alexandria" to a very appreciative crowd. "Alexandria" rose enough interest that Tyler and Xander decided to put together a full length album including drums and bass. After more acoustic performances through the fall and winter of 2001, TBM enlisted Nik Karbelnikoff to play drums on the upcoming album. During the spring of 2002, Xander, Tyler, and Nik recorded the band's full length debut, Here's Another Sad Song for You. The album featured full band versions of "Goodbye" and "What the World's Done," as well as the new fan favorite, "Alexandria." HASSFY was recieved well locally, selling hundreds of copies in Delaware. The band continued to build on its repetoire and released a live album in December cut from their November 16, 2002 concert at Forbes Theater.
