The Boots (1964-1969) were a German beat/rock group of the 1960s, heavily influenced by blues-based British outfits as The Yardbirds, The Pretty Things and Them. Line-up: Werner Krabbe (lead vocals), Jurg "Jockel" Schulte-Eckel (guitars), Uli Grün (rhythm guitar, organ, harmonica), Bob Bresser (bass), Heinz Hoff (drums) The Boots were popular in Germany and recorded for Telefunken Records, which yielded a pair of LPs as well as several singles. Krabbe exited in early 1966, following the release of their garage-punk single "Gaby", featured on Rhino's summer 2001 release of Nuggets II. The original group called it a day in 1968... but not quite. Grün, Hoff and new bassist, Rainer Bleck, moved to The Netherlands and recruited Dutchmen Kid van Ettinger (ex-The Incrowd) and singer, Jacques Eckhardt. The 'Dutch version' of The Boots released two more singles before dissolving in 1969. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
