[video:http://www.myspace.com/video/vid/62177815] The Boomcats are a psychedelic rock band from New Bedford, MA. They formed in January of 2009 when John Steele and Nick Perrone broke up their band The Diggers to go in a different musical direction. At the same time keyboard player Peter Hegarty had just moved back to New Bedford from Florida and the three started jamming. Soon magic started to happen and The Boomcats were born. The next year was spent writing songs and playing shows in New Bedford bars with the occasional harmonica accompaniment of Craig Rebello. In 2010 the ranks were joined by American Freeway bass player Mike 'Woolpants' Dudley. They continued playing shows (usually for about ten people) and recorded a few songs over the next year. In 2010 the band got together with American Freeway drummer Dan Skypeck who was learning the art of recording and recorded the rest of the songs for their debut album Here's To Music, which is available now on itunes and amazon.com.
