There are at least two bands named The Bloods: 1. The Bloods, or the Damu Ridas, were an assortment of Bloods gang members from South Los Angeles and Inglewood, California active from 1993 to 1999. They are best known for working with Crips gang members, Nationwide Rip Ridaz, to form the group Bloods & Crips. Together they released two albums, 1993’s Bangin’ on Wax and 1994’s Bangin’ on Wax 2… The Saga Continues. The Damu Ridas also released two albums as a group, 1995’s Damu Ridas and 1999’s How Deep Is Your Hood. 2. From Western Australia an all-girl, post no-wave punkfunk band 3. From NYC, playing from 1979 through until 1982. The members included Adele Bertei (original Contortion and briefly Bush Tetra) on vocals; Annie Toone (keyboards & vox); Kathy Rey (guitar); Brenda Alderman (bass) and Kathleen Campbell (drums). The Bloods put out one 7 inch called "Button Up" on the Au Pairs' EXIT records in 1981 (which ended up single of the week in the NME). The band also were on The Venus Weltklang compilation Flame Records together with The Slits, Kleenex, Malaria, and the Au Pairs from the first Women's Rock Festival in Berlin 1980. They also did the soundtrack for Lizzie Borden's indie classic feature Born In Flames, together with Red Crayola (Adele and Pat Place starred in the movie). The Bloods played a gazillion shows, sharing bills with with many famous names like The Clash, Richard Hell, Johnny Thunders, the Slits, the Au Pairs, Gang of Four, Bush Tetras, Lydia Lun
