The Blinking Project is an indie pop-electronic band from Rapid City, South Dakota fronted by Nic Westlake, who plays most conventional instruments and many unusual instruments, not limited to harmonica, keyboard, guitar, drums, and the pan pipes. Westlake uses music as his preferred medium for his writing, and while the musical style of The Blinking Project is unique, his stories are what set him apart from the lyrical abyss that much of popular music falls into. The Blinking Project's first full length album "The Two Person Play", written, mixed, recorded, and engineered by Westlake, was released in June 2007. The album draws from pop influences while attempting to remain aloof from the musical and lyrical clichés that plague pop music today.
