Artist
For the Seattle post-punk band, see Blackouts. There is more than one artist with this name: 1) An American garage/alternative rock band based in Champaign, Illinois, known for their high-energy, guitar-driven sound in the early-to-mid 2000s Midwest music scene. They've changed their name to the Living Blue later. 2) Late 90's ska band 3) Punk band from Kansas City. 4) A band for which John Flansburgh played guitar in 1980 while he was attending Antioch College, in Yellow Springs, Ohio, before the formation of They Might Be Giants. The other band members were Dan Spock (guitar), Chel White (drums), Dan Julty (bass), and, at some point, Karl Hecksher, who had also played drums for The Turtlenecks. In a radio interview, Flansburgh stated, "I was in a band called the Blackouts. We did, uh...we did some really messed up stuff. We did a bunch of James Brown covers that were un-identifiable as James Brown covers. I was playing the role of James Brown." John Linnell (of They Might Be Giants) added, "John just basically screamed." User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
