There have been several bands called The Black Arrows. 1) a heavy indie/post-hardcore band from Rochester, NY, U.S.A. 2) a Dutch/Indonesian 'Indorock' guitar group from the 1960s * * * 1. The Black Arrows were a heavy indie/post-hardcore band out of Rochester, NY. Known for the curiously intuitive interplay between identical twin brother bass and lead guitar of Paul and Jay Phillips, the Black Arrows were also anchored in the more straight ahead vocals of Nick Walter. Their debut EP Cause For a Curse was released on upstart label Astrojanitor Records in the summer of 2006. Unfortunately inter=band tensions forced the Black Arrows to part ways later that year. Nick and Paul have recently begun a new project called Inugami. 2. The Black Arrows were a guitar group influenced by The Shadows, based in The Netherlands, although all band members were born in the former Dutch colony of Indonesia. The band was part of the so-called 'Indorock' wave of Indonesian guitar bands. 'Indorock' was tremendously popular in the 'pre-Beatles' The Netherlands of the early 1960s.
