The Black Armband lasted about three months in the summer of 1995 in Denton, Texas...a very hot summer, even by Texas standards. The name was taken from a Shiva the Destroyer song of the same name, and was later stolen by former Wannabe Manor housemate and all around scene-suckling poseur Wanz Dover. The members were Chris Pulliam from Suretoss/The Oddfellows/ The Reds on bass and backing vocal, Jordan Caplan a strange little Jewish nerd who had a copy of a tape by The Clean on drums, and Tony Primavera from The Codependents/Shiva the Destroyer/ the can't on vocals and guitar. All three wore big, black-framed glasses. Sessions took place at the legendary Wannabe Manor, and consisted of Tony Primavera showing up late, accompanied by friends injecting bad pink crank, barking orders at the others, and being generally surly; Chris Pulliam putting his gigantic bass amp too close to the microphones; and Jordan Caplan having trouble keeping a steady beat, as well as asking for the phone numbers of cute girls from The Think Math Sucks. The only opus to come from these sessions was the song, "Get Bent," which was a collaboration between Pulliam and Primavera. Chris Pulliam wrote the music, save for the breakdown, and Tony Primavera wrote the lyrics and The Cure/Dinosaur Jr. type guitar solo. Mike Weebe of The Riverboat Gamblers can be heard at the end of that track yelling, "radical!" And it was...for a very short time. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commo
