Victor Talamantes (of Egon), Sebastian Troll, Gabe Acevedo, and Gabe Colunga formed The Bellakun in early 2003. They wrote soulful, intense songs that flowed from one another with the utmost grace. In early 2004, they released their first recording, "Cantar Para Espantar La Soledad", which means "sing to scare away loneliness." It was a glimpse into the heart of dark, yet beautiful, band. Shortly after the album was released, Sebastian left The Bellakun and was replaced with Daniel Aley. The Bellakun entered the studio in November 2004 to begin working on a follow-up. Almost a year in the making, "Bendicion Maldita" was released on October 4th, 2005. Here, The Bellakun builds on their first record, but this time, the music has the benefit of being born from a band more comfortable in its own skin. Eleven songs to give you chills by, "Bendicion Maldita" stirs emotion in the listener ranging from explosive exuberance to depressive darkness. Daniel left the band after recording the new album and now Joe Quezada (also of Egon) has entered the fold.
