The "Ardells" is a five-piece band formed in the early 60's by Dave Hentosh & Sal Cardile in Chester, Pennsylvania, USA. "Stronger Than Dirt" was originally the B-side of a 45 record release that had "Midnight Train" as the A-side. "Stronger Than Dirt" is based on an old Ajax detergent commercial and originally had lyrics. A few errant attempts at the vocal in the studio convinced everyone involved to leave it as an instrumental, especially since it was only the B-side. Neither side received much airplay at the time.
