The 75s were a lively little power pop trio from St. Louis, Missouri. The band was formed in the winter of 2006 by Scott Lasser and Laurel Mydock, former bandmates in the short-lived garage band The Downcasts. Mydock and Lasser practiced on their own for a couple of months, all the while searching for a female bass player who would be willing to sing backup and lead when needed. After placing several online ads, they were finally contacted via Myspace by Morgan Nusbaum, formerly of the St. Louis space/funk/punk collective Galaxy Rock Meats William. Nusbaum was enthusiastically asked to join the band after the trio's first jam together. In anticipation of their first live performance (at Lemmons in St. Louis on August 10, 2007), The 75s recorded a three song demo in Nusbaum's basement so that it could be handed out at the show. A day after the songs were posted on the band's Myspace page, The 75s were named The Riverfront Times (RFT) inaugural "Band Of The Week" for June 21-28 2007. The 75s' song "Finders Keepers" was one of the ten most played indie pop tracks on Podshow.com during the month of July 2007 and made the Village Voice "Pazz and Jop Poll" Singles List in 2008. The song was also featured in the independent movie "Shadowland". The band was asked to contribute an original tune, "Cliche Christmas Song", to A Very Bert Dax Christmas, Vol. 6, a yearly compilation released by The Bert Dax Cavalcade Of Stars, a local St. Louis indie label run by Matt Harnish of Bunnygr
