Artist
THÉA (Théa Barromes, born July 25, 2001), is a French singer, electronic music producer, and songwriter. Her style is linked to emocore tones and more broadly to hyperpop. She first gained attention in 2019 by publishing songs and covers on her YouTube channel. Discovered at the iNOUïS of Printemps de Bourges in 2023, THÉA began touring and performing at many festivals and concert venues in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Germany. THÉA was born in 2001 and grew up in the Paris suburbs in a politically engaged left-wing family. Her father took her to concerts where she discovered Zebda, while her older brother introduced her to rock and punk rock groups such as Sum 41, Good Charlotte, and The Offspring. She started playing drums at six and became interested in music software at eleven. After one year in a Catholic high school, she joined the self-managed high school of Paris, where she discovered political activism. She played in a band during her studies and performed covers at concerts. In 2016, THÉA began publishing her first songs and covers, notably on YouTube. After the Covid-19 lockdown, her first live performances were politically charged, with songs built on protest slogans at concerts in Montreuil, including at the squat Le Marbré, where she performed in support of movements against detention centers. In 2022 and 2023, she took part in events organized by Afterlife Collective, founded by LouiseBSX and Thx4Crying, which brought together hyperpop and queer artists
