Tetrapot Melon Tea is a fictional Swedish pop band that appears in the manga/anime series Detroit Metal City (2008). The band's name is first mentioned by Souichi Negishi, the series' protagonist, as a made-up name when he is asked what his band is called, since he is ashamed to admit that he plays in Detroit Metal City, a death metal band. Only moments later does he learn that Tetrapot Melon Tea actually exists, listed above his own band in a karaoke track listing. In a remarkable coincidence, the frontman/vocalist of TMT is none other than Saji, Negishi's junior back in college who looks up to him and shares the same fondness for Swedish pop music. Unfortunately, Tetrapod Melon Tea decides to disband after being humiliated by DMC in a late-night TV show, something Negishi feels really guilty about.
