There are two bands named Tenebrarum. One from Colombia, the other from Mexico. a) Tenebrarum was a mexican band founded in 1990 in Guadalajara, Mexico. They released two demos named "Horror" (1990) and "The Distortionated Guts of Idolatry" (1992) which showed some influences from death/grind metal. In 1993 they added a keyboard player and thus the sound of the band changed to a mixture of death and black metal. In 1994 they recorded their only album which was called "Alta Magia". The band split up after that sometime around mid-90s. "Alta Magia" is considered one of the finest pieces of underground mexican death metal from the golden era, alongside Shub Niggurath, Argentum, Cenotaph, Mortuary and The Chasm. b) Colombian band created in 1990 by David Rivera. In 1992 they released their demo “Visiones del Horror” (Horror Visions), in classical Death Metal vein. In 1994 they changed their sound and the band released their first album “El Vuelo de las Almas” (Flight of Souls). This album established the foundations of a style than mixed classical music with metal, introducing violin, soprano voice and some piano parts with a very solid rhythmical base of drums, bass and guitar. Besides, this album showed the way to many bands with Goth tendencies in the country. In 1995 “Blood & Tears”, their second album, saw the light.
