The Teen Turbans was a group of Los Angeles middle and high school locals, the group was actually called "The Turbans and the female counterpart to the group was "The Turbelettes" which is actually who recorded "We Need To Be Loved". In the 60's Los Angeles Television KHJ would have a battle of the bands every year, I believe it was 1966 and we won all new instruments and a recording contract with Warner Bros/ Loma Records. On We Need To Be Loved, Lenny Waneker was the producer and Glenn Campbell played 12 string guitar, The female part of the "Teen Turbans" was my older sister Georgetta Denmark, our friend and managers daughter Iris Flowers and myself Zettie Denmark. other members of the band were Lester Smith, Arthur Cooper(horns) Wayne Davis (tenor sax) Dale Thalley(Bass) Olaf Tweedy(keyboards) Luke Fowers(various instruments) Ralph Johnson(Drums) & Al Mackay( Lead Guitar), incidentially Ralph Johnson and AL Mackay went on to become members of Earth Wind And Fire.
