Teeklef, born Ebuka Unogu on February 28, 1990, to Nigerian parents, Chief and Chief Mrs. Unogu hails from Owerri-Nkwoji village in Imo state, Nigeria. The sensational R ‘n’ B singer, rapper, producer, and songwriter who began his music career in Lagos, a city likened to New York city, is extolled by music pundits as one of the brightest talents to come out of Africa since Akon. Teeklef was first spotted in his neighborhood church choir in Lagos, where he enchanted the congregation on a weekly basis. His solo performances in the choir, alongside his dexterity on the piano and the drums drew the attention of prospective artists in Lagos city. From leading choir songs in his church, Teeklef was lured into a neighborhood music group. In 2005, the group began to perform locally and eventually appeared on a talent show hosted by the Nigerian Television Authority. Just as the group began to gain public attention, Teeklef gained admission into the Imo State University, and left to pursue a college degree at the insistence of his parents. However, his passion for singing would not droop. Teeklef began to sing in several church choirs on campus, and soon became a college ground sensation. He earned gigs at society parties, campus events and private shows.
