BACK IN THE '90s... In the mid-90’s, Ted Lukas served as the premier songwriter and guitar player for Big Deal Recording Artists, Barely Pink. He is featured on the group’s Big Deal debut, Number One Fan (‘97), and their follow-up, Elli’s Suitcase (‘99). Both releases were also licensed to the major label, JVC/Victor in Japan. In 1998, Lukas formed Tampa Bay’s breakthrough Americana band Hangtown, releasing two full length CDs, Here For Now (‘99) on the FL-based Blue Heart label, and Eleven Reasons (‘01) on MS-based Black Dog Records, a label founded by members of the classic alternative country band, Blue Mountain. In 2006, Hangtown released a reunion EP Gone Today, Here Tomorrow. Sessions for this EP were mixed by known producer, Eric ‘Roscoe’ Ambel at CTS studios in Brooklyn. SOLO YEARS and THE MISLED In 2003 singer/songwriter Ted Lukas released his 1st solo CD, Distracted, to much critical acclaim. With the 2008 solo release, Misled, Lukas revisited his power-pop roots. The 10-songs on this self-produced CD capture the dynamic guitars, catchy melodies, and heartfelt vocals that were once made popular by artists such as Badfinger, Big Star, and Nick Lowe. In 2010, Lukas and his new band, the Misled, released Learn How to Fall. Produced by Ted Lukas and mixed by Eric ‘Roscoe’ Ambel, this 10-song CD is a rich Americana blend of rootsy rock and twang, featuring plenty of big guitar riffs and catchy melodic hooks.
