Tears of Misery is a band from Bogota, Colombia. At first they were a heavy-thrash metal band conformed by Cristian Laiton (drums), Sebastián R (guitars, vocals), Ricardo Fonseca (Bass) and Oscar Bayona (lead guitars), but with the arrival of Leonardo U (vocals) and Diego B (Bass) from Abraxas and the exit of Ricardo, Tears of Misery became a more powerful melodic death metal band. In 2006 they record their demo EP: State of Katharsis. The band was viewed as a fusion of the former bands Abraxas and Tears of Misery, since one of their major live hits, "Lemures", was originally a song played by Abraxas and composed by Leonardo. Some misunderstandings caused Cristian and Leonardo to leave the band. As of now, Tears of Misery hired a new, faster drummer, Giovanni, which caused their genre to change to a grindcore melodic death metal band. Tears of Misery tiene sus inicios en el año 2000 tocando thrash metal bajo el nombre Lagrimas de Miseria en ese entonces conformada por: Sebastian Rodriguez (Guitarra y Voz), Ricardo Fonseca (Bajo y Voz), Oscar Bayona (guitarra) y Cristian Laiton (Bateria). Hacia el año 2002 la banda encamina su rumbo hacia un sonido distinto más enfocado hacia el Death Metal igualmente cambia su nombre a Tears of Misery, a la banda ingresan Diego Gutierrez en el Bajo y Leonardo Ascarate en la voz este es el verdadero inicio de la banda, en el 2006 la banda graba su primer Demo titulado "State of Catarsis" con un sonido enfocado hacia el Melodic Death Metal c
