There are at least three groups that have used this name: 1) 2000s American garage punk band fronted by Jack Oblivian Yarber of the Oblivians. Post-Oblivians, after pursuing a brief solo career, Yarber teamed up with Scott Bomar to form the Tearjearkers. The first Tearjerkers album, Bad Mood Rising, appeared in 2001 As Bomar became more and more involved with film scoring, Yarber began to take a more active role in the band, ultimately taking over as lead songwriter after Bomar's departure. With Yarber in control of the group, the band was rechristened Jack-O & The Tennessee Tearjerkers. 2) A five-piece Irish power pop band used the name during their short 1978 to 1982 existence. They released just three singles, although they successfully toured with Thin Lizzy in April 1980. Their best known single was their second, "Murder Mystery", which they released in 1980.
