Tang Can, a famous singer, comes from Hunan. She majored in folk vocality in the Wuhan Conservatory of Music. After graduating she entered the China Sing and Dance Troupe as a soloist. Tang Can got the "Excellent Singer" prize in the 7th National Youth Singer TV Competition. Then in the 5th China Music TV Competition, her song "Dreams Come True" got the silver prize, "Sister of A Fishing Family" got the bronze prize, and "there have been a time" got the excellent prize. In the summer of 1998, many regions of China suffered from a flood that is very rare in Chinese history. Tang Can took part in the grand evening party "We are having the Same Heart" to give relief to the victims in stricken areas. Despite this, she also took part the Comfort Performances in Hunan, Hubei and Jingaxi. She went to the frontier of the flood to donate money and necessities. Moreover, she shot a moving music video called "the anthem of heroes" at her own expense, using lyrics to express the respect of the people towards the soldiers who fought the flood. This music video gained impressive reflection after it showed on CCTV. As well as attending the activities held by her own troupe, Tang Can took part some other grand evening parties and charity activities. She went to many poor areas to perform and took part in the benefit performances, donating money and helping the children who were unable to study because they had no money.
