Talley Summerlin was lead singer and lyricist of alternative rock band, BE, which released six critically-acclaimed DIY albums from 1989-2002 . In January, 2011, Summerlin released his first solo material, a digital single for his song “Alright With You.” In July, 2012, he released a 3-song EP called Shake the Gates His lyrics are intelligent, passionate and often socially conscious. His music is catchy yet inventive. His recent releases have been compared to such artists as Crowded House/Neil Finn, Peter Gabriel, The Swell Season/Glen Hansard, and Michael Penn. He states that his major influences include The Beatles, The Killing Joke, The Replacements, XTC, U2, R.E.M. and Carl Sandburg.
