Taking their name from Scottish legend William Wallace, Tales of Wallace is a punk band from Castro Valley, California. After a failed attempt at starting an alternative/screamo band (Hazael) in December 2004 the 3 members (Andrew Zasimovich: Guitar/Vocals, Joshua House: Bass/Vocals, Anthony Zasimovich: Drums) came together again in June 2005 with an all-new pop-punk sound. After serious writing sessions, the band decided to take yet another direction in October 2005. Instead of generic, fast punk, Tales of Wallace wanted to include their love of the reggae style of Bob Marley and Sublime. This soon became the Tales of Wallace signature sound. However, there was another variable thrown into the mix. All members were avid fans of the San Francisco Bay Area Hardcore scene. It was audience involvement of the Hardcore sound that enthralled the band members. Gang vocals (collaborative shouting) urging audience participation and hard breakdowns that were easy to dance (hardcore-mosh style) to were incorporated into Tales of Wallace sound. The amalgamation of these styles shaped the Tales of Wallace we hear today. Although it may seem confusing, the fusion of Punk, Reggae, and Hardcore sound was a surprising success in the local scene. All demographics were able to enjoy aspects of Tales of Wallace. After a debut gig and debut practice demo in November 2005 the band went back to writing all new material over the Christmas season. It was a house show on January 27, 200
