Hailing from Chicago, Matt Jencik (bass), Mat Daly (guitar/vocals), and Noah Leger (drums) comprise the indie pop sounds of Taking Pictures. The trio spent five years making a name for itself in and around Pittsburgh under the Hurl moniker, but various projects allowed each member to explore their own musical palate. Jencik worked with Karl Hendricks for Don Caballero's 1995 release Don Caballero 2. Leger joined Hendricks and Thee Speaking Canaries for several U.S tours while also hitting skins for Milemarker. Taking Pictures inked a deal with My Pal God in 2002; their dynamic debut album, Friends Are Ghosts, appeared later that fall.
