Artist
Born Yvonne Stevens, October 8th, 1954 In Chicago, Illinois, Taka Boom is the younger sister of R&B singer Chaka Khan. Taka began her professional career by singing background vocals for various groups, including Parliament. She also sang lead vocals for The Undisputed Truth and the Glass House. Taka eventually signed with Ariola-America and released a self-titled LP which spawned a top 20 R&B hit in "Night Dancin'", but the label folded before Taka's second single could be released. In the 80s, she released two albums, Boomerang and Middle of the Night, both were unsuccessful chart wise. (the single "Middle of the Night" peaked at number 63 on the R&B Chart). While she didn't obtain pop chart success, she has found some success in dance music, collaborating heavily with Joey Negro.
