As their name would suggest, TRUS! suddenly appeared on the Slovenian music map in Spring 2012, after they had recorded no-budget demo using their telephone, and immediately joined the Klubski Maraton tour organized by Radio Študent. The creative energy between Jelena Rusjan (bass, vocal), Boštjan Simon (synth, sax, vocal) and Marko Lasič (drums) is obvious right from the start. But don’t be fooled by their sudden appearance, because TRUS! is a trio of experienced performers and musicians that have played in Škrip Orkestra, Vanilla Riot, Kombo Zlatka Kaučiča, The Puzzled and Litošt. Still, these references don’t say much about this unpredictable gang, since as TRUS! they decided to embark on a new musical journey, unburdened by their past and present musical projects. The diversity of TRUS! members musical backgrounds is obvious in their songs, where they flow between hectic powerful outbursts, calm sensual atmospheres, joyful exuberance and back. In this enigmatic sound wall you can recognise influences from bands such as Deerhoof, Bilk, Milemarker, Stereolab and Trans Am, but it still doesn’t cover all the aspects and richness of their music. Ironically, TRUS! like to keep things concrete and describe themselves with this formula: TRUS! = 45% Alter, 20% Garage, 17% Punk, 10% SynthRock, 8% Electro New Wave.
